Fast forward to 2020 and they’re truly on top of their game and enjoying an absolute resurgence in their long and distinguished career. L.A. GUNS have managed to retain their street wise integrity whilst fitting seamlessly into today’s rock market.

Heavily plugged into their loyal fan base, L.A. GUNS are now set to release a brand-new album, Renegades, on vinyl, CD and digital.  The record has already seen 3 smash singles; the title track, Renegades, Crawl and Well Oiled Machine, (which gained a position and cover placement on Spotify’s esteemed ‘Hard Rock’ playlist).

With more than 30 years of noteworthy material, L.A. GUNS have positioned themselves as true heroes of the rock ’n‘ roll genre, bringing their iconic L.A. sound to audiences around the world.

ABOUT L.A. GUNS
L.A. GUNS was formed in 1986 and signed with Polygram Records in 1987, recording their first album that summer. This first album, titled L.A. GUNS, went on to sell over 1,000,000 copies giving the band its first platinum award. Tours with AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Def Leppard followed. A compilation of the videos made from this first album also earned the band a gold video award. L.A. GUNS went into the studio to record their second album, Cocked and Loaded, in the spring of 1989. It was a hit right away with the release of Rip and Tear as the first single and video. Never Enough and The Ballad of Jayne followed, pushing the album toward platinum status once again. The video compilation from this album earned the band its second gold video award.

A successful world tour followed. The band’s third album, Hollywood Vampires, was recorded in the fall of 1990. With the release of Kiss My Love Goodbye as the first single and video, and another successful world tour, the album gave L.A. GUNS its third platinum album in a row.

L.A. GUNS – die L.A. Rock Legende, bei deren Gründung Axl Rose sang. Axl verließ die Band und gründete HOLLYWOOD ROSE. Aus L.A. GUNS und HOLLYWOOD ROSE wurden Guns N‘ Roses. Tracii Guns wurde bei Guns N‘ Roses durch Slash ersetzt und startete die L.A. GUNS neu.
Nun steht das mittlerweile 13 Studio Album an.

Manche Band erzeugt gar fantastische Bilder: herrliche Farben, kunstvolle Motive und beeindruckende Schatten der Emotion im inspirierten Rahmen. Lesoir reicht das jedoch nicht, sie drehen auf ihrem neuen Album das größere Rad. Manche Werke sind auf Maße, Normen und Formate beschränkt, nicht so Latitude. Etwa Da Vincis Mona Lisa mag beeindrucken, doch wie spektakulär muss es erst gewesen sein, diese geheimnisvolle Frau wirklich erleben zu können? So ähnlich lässt sich das Verhältnis zwischen Latitude und gewöhnlichen Artrock-Alben beschreiben.

Das Auge kann so viel mehr als nur eine Abfolge von Bildern sehen, denn es gibt jedem Gefühl seine erste Kontur. Ähnliches lässt sich über das Gehör sagen. Musik kann die Zusammenfügung von Klängen sein, in seltenen Momenten gelingt es ihr jedoch, tiefer zu sein und Wahrheit abzubilden. Dieses Kunststück ist Lesoir mit Latitude gelungen. Das vierte Studioalbum der Niederländer ist weniger eine geschickte Illusion, sondern es verfügt tatsächlich über die dreidimensionale Form der Realität, die andere Werke eben nur scheinbar bieten.

Im Vergleich zu den Vorgängerwerken legen Lesoir diesmal deutlich intensiveren Fokus auf eine progressive Ausrichtung, welche der Melodie den Vorzug vor der bloßen Wucht gibt. Mehr denn je ist man auf eine ebenso ausgewogene wie experimentell-mutige Balance zwischen Lyrics, Melodie, Groove und explosiver Dynamik bedacht. So achtet man z. B. auf Latitude sehr zielgerichtet darauf, der Musik im Mix Raum zum Atmen zu geben. Da trifft es sich natürlich blendend, dass man an den Reglern einen Zauberer wie John Cornfield sitzen hatte, der u. a. bereits für den legendären „Absolution“-Sound von Muse zuständig war.

Die kunstvolle Struktur im Klang hilft dann auch, die vielschichtigen Reliefs der inhaltlichen Themen präzise zu formen und zu übersetzen. Ob Klimawandel, die Rolle der Menschheit auf dem Planeten oder gar die markerschütternde Geschichte des Bandfreunds und Bataclan-Terror-Überlebenden Ferry Zandvliet: Lesoir bringen die Schönheit der Melancholie mit der schroffen Boshaftigkeit des zerklüfteten Ödlands zusammen und schaffen daraus so imposante wie berührende Musik.

Diese Mal hat man sich für die Produktion im Sawmills Studio von Sound-Maestro John Cornfield einquartiert, doch damit nicht genug: diesmal wurde obendrein noch The Pineapple Thief-Frontmann Bruce Soord als Co-Produzent hinzugezogen, was den Songs eine weitere Dimension der Tiefe verleiht, in die man die komplexen Kompositionen hat einbetten können. Nie zuvor haben es Maartje (Gesang, Flöte, Piano), Eleën (Gesang, Gitarre, Keyboard, Percussion), Ingo (Gitarre), Bob (Schlagzeug) und Ingo (Bass) geschafft, die komplexen Welten ihrer Musik auf den Punkt zu bringen.

Latitude strotzt vor Lebendigkeit und durchstößt die Grenze zu einer ganz neuen Dimension der Musik.
